SEPTEMBER 2011 PRESS RELEASE

Feed-back.com's Medical Spa Report Tracks Market Growth, Revenues, And Trends

September 13, 2011 (Jacksonville OR): Analysts attribute continued growth in the U.S. medical spa market to the addition of consumer-oriented products and services to established medical practices. While growth in U.S. cosmetic surgery and spa services is well-documented, medical spa numbers and revenues are hard to find.

According to the Association for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Americans spent $4.1 billion on nonsurgical aesthetic procedures in 2010.[1]  In 2010, the U.S. spa industry generated revenues of $12.8 billion (International Spa Association statistics).[2]  How much is attributable to medical spas?

Medical Spa Market Review 2011presents product sales, procedure revenues, staffing, and other assessments based on survey findings gathered from more than 400 cosmetic plastic surgery, dermatology, and medical spa facilities. Since 2006, five nonsurgical aesthetic procedure categories have accounted for the majority of market revenues in the U.S. medical spa market: Facials, fillers, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, and peels. Total revenues from all three segments may reach $3.2 billion by 2014. Despite operation of a relatively small number of facilities (compared to cosmetic plastic surgery and dermatology practices), the medical spa segment is expected to account for nearly 16.0% of 2014 market revenues.

As suggested by industry participants, revenue growth is due in part to the growing role of estheticians who promote and support procedure and service volumes.
